“We are deeply saddened at the news of Her Majesty The Queen’s passing and send our heartfelt condolences to her family.
"Her Majesty The Queen became Patron of Women’s Voluntary Service in 1952 a few months after she ascended the throne. Over the years she played a pivotal role in our history; visiting our services and in 2021, taking the time to meet and praise our volunteers on a zoom call for their invaluable support during the pandemic.
“Today Royal Voluntary Service continues to support people in need and the NHS. Her legacy of service inspiring volunteers to give their time to their communities will continue.
“As we mourn and adjust to the end of an era, we stand ready to offer our full support to King Charles III and the Queen Consort who has remained steadfast in her support as our President.”

What a wonderful experience meeting The Queen and The Duchess of Cornwall was in their respective roles for the Royal Voluntary Service, albeit virtually!
My overriding memory, the Queen chuckling at something I said about my son who is also a Royal Voluntary Service Volunteer!
Both Her Majesty and The Duchess put everyone at ease very quickly and I am so grateful that I have been able to meet the Queen who I have a great deal of respect and admiration for. She was the one constant in difficult times and I will remember her for her unwavering service, her sense of duty and the ability to make it all seem effortless!

Meeting Her Majesty and Her Royal Highness was a true honour. They were both very interested in what I had been doing and it was obvious that they have so much respect and admiration for volunteers.
Whilst today we mourn the sad loss of Her Majesty we should also in the days to come celebrate her life of service, an inspiration to all.
